I met the rudest parent volunteers at the school play
My 14 year old daughter has a rare genetic metabolic disorder. As a result she struggles in many areas of her life including mild cognitive delays. There are no current treatments for galactosemia but she has dietary restrictions limiting galactose in her diet. The biggest ingredient she has to avoid is dairy.
So, she is in the school play. They are currently in tech week and are at practice from after school to about 9:00 pm every night. One of the organizers asked that all the kids pay a small fee to get food delivered each of the days. We emailed back and forth with the organizer and they agreed to provide her with dairy-free options and said they would let us know if they could not accommodate her. We said we would gladly bring her food or send her with her own food if that is the case.
So, the first day of food delivery during practice comes and my daughter texts us saying that everything has cheese on it. The salad has cheese sprinkled in it and the sandwiches have not just cheese but melted cheese. She talks to the parent volunteers asking if there was anything without cheese. The parents became loud and accusatory towards my daughter. My daughter is very shy and would not have been rude about this. They told her to just take the cheese off.
